This Week in Entertainment

Remember this post? Well, I don't know what's going on, but Mr. Bo and I went OUT to a movie AGAIN. For the second time in 2011, we dared to venture away from the comfort of our Netflix Que, this time to see "I Love You Phillip Morris." It's about two gay men who meet in prison and fall in love....Yep. It's also a true story! Perhaps it was just the novelty of watching it on the big screen, but I really enjoyed it. Then again, why would I not like this movie? It has all the right ingredients for an enjoyable cinematic experience: Humor, an interesting plot, a surprising twist at the end, and two of the most underrated actors in Hollywood today. That's right, I'm talking about Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor. I love Jim Carrey not only because he is hysterically funny, but also because he is such a versatile actor (ehh hem, "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind"). I love Ewan McGregor because, well, he's just so yummy. He can sing, he can dance, and he sends my heart racing every time he flashes those pearly whites.

Earlier in the week we also watched "Catfish," a documentary with a story so crazy, I wasn't sure it was even true. Come to find out from watching the DVD extras that it is a true story, which made me like it so much more than when I thought it was just a decent movie with mediocre acting. It's a story that involves Facebook, love, deception, and mystery. See it.

For our most recent "Pizza and Movie Night," Mr. Bo and I watched a movie with a plot also involving Facebook, love, deception, and mystery.  This time we went for the more obvious of the two,  "The Social Network." I don't think I need to tell anyone that this was a great movie (you'd have to have been living under a rock for the past  9 months to not know that)....but it truly was a great movie. As far as Oscar noms' go however, I liked "Black Swan" better. Mr. Bo enjoyed "The Social Network" more. Go figure.
