The Adventures of Baby Bo: 3 Months

Is my sweet little newborn really 3 months old already? I can't believe it. Time really does fly when you're having fun. Since he does not go back to the pediatrician until March, we do not know exactly how much he weighs, but if I had to guess I would say roughly a million trillion pounds, give or take. Boy does that boy know how to pack on the lbs! He still eats somewhat sporadically throughout the day, usually eating 4 or 5 oz every 2 to 4 hours, depending on how long his naps are. He also does not have an official napping schedule yet, but does have predictable patterns and behaviors that we follow throughout the day. He usually wakes up anywhere from 5:30 and 7:30 in the morning, eats, then is awake anywhere from an hour to two hours (usually about an hour and a half) and then goes back down for a nap, sometimes lasting only 30 or 40 minutes, but sometimes stretching to three hours. When he wakes up he eats again, and the cycle starts over and continues until around 10 at night. He has also been sleeping through the night for over two weeks now (Que the Hallelujah Chorus)! As mentioned in my last post, we are letting him make his own schedule, and the pediatrician told us it probably won't be until about 6 months when he begins to have a more consistent eating and sleeping schedule, with probably around two or three naps about the same time everyday, with longer awake times in between.
One of Baby Bo's favorite pass times these days is looking at, and munching on his hands. It is the cutest thing to see him get such a kick out of his own two hands. He has the sweetest laugh too! Mr. Bo is the best at getting his giggles out, although I have managed to get some pretty good chuckles out of him this week myself.  One of my very favorite things he does right now though is "talking"...Especially when it is to himself, laying in bed before and after he sleeps. I love it when he wakes up happy and talking (as opposed to hungry and crying) because those are the times when I am greeted with a huge grin that just melts my heart. He has also started to bat at and hold onto small toys, and brings them to his mouth some too. He is still in the early stages of this developmental milestone, but it is great to see his mind and body at work.

Big Boy!

All You Need is Love

This year Mr.Bo and I had a pretty uneventful Valentine's Day. While I have always loved V day, Mr. Bo and I have never really made a big-to-do about it, although I am sure we will begin doing more for Baby Bo as he gets older.
Just as we both did last year, Mr. Bo spent the weekend before Valentine's Day helping out at the Candy Factory. But since we have the little bambino this year, I stayed home with him instead of working, but still got to enjoy the fruits of Mr. Bo's labor, i.e. chocolate covered strawberries. YUM! We had an extremely busy week this past week, and Valentine's Day was no exception. I spent the week babysitting for some friends of ours during the day, and working with the children at a local church in the evenings, both to which Baby Bo was carted along side. Preseason for baseball started for Mr. Bo, so not only has he been busy with teaching, but also with preseason work outs, as well as coaching intramural basketball, and tutoring a few times a week. Whew! Therefore, my Valentine's Day gift was Taco Bell and a Reese's Peanut Butter heart brought to me at work for dinner. :) My gift to Mr. Bo was, of course, a love letter. I also got to spend my day with these two sweeties...

                                                                                                      ....Not a bad day :)

Tonight Mr. Bo and I are going out for an unofficial Valentine's Day date while my mom watches the little one. After such a long week it is just what we need, and I am so excited to spend some time together just the two of us. We really treasure our evenings spent at home with Baby Bo, but every now and then it's nice to have some relaxing time together.

A Love Letter

Dear Mr Bo,

Thank you for being the man you are. Your patience, kindness, and sensitivity is something to be admired. I love who I am when I am with you, and I am thankful for the woman I have become because of you. You have proven yourself to be a wonderful father, and I can think of no better role model for our son. While my love for you grows everyday, it was multiplied by a million the day he was born. You are the man of my dreams. In you I have found the peanut butter to my jelly, the bread to my butter, and the Dave to my Tim. I will love you forever. Happy Valentines Day.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Bo

P.S.

Mugs Up!

Even though Mr. Bo is five years my senior, I believe our choice in coffee mug speaks volumes about our actual maturity levels...

Charlie Brown mug vs. actual grown up mug
However, I do wonder what it says about us that we both put hot chocolate mix in our coffee every morning?

Pinterest Interests

After starting my Pinterest account Pre-baby, I found my self severly neglecting my account post-baby. Recently I have rededicated myself to pinning, and am slowly working my way towards "doing" (because isn't that sort of the point of Pinterest... actually doing the things you pin?). Here are  few of my Pinterest interests today....

Avocado Yogurt Dip with Cumin

  • 3/4 cup plain fat-free yogurt
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped red onion
  • 3 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped seeded jalapeƱo pepper
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • ripe peeled avocados, seeded and coarsely chopped
  • garlic clove, minced

For last night's super bowl game I made this. You just throw all the ingredients into a blender to make a creamy, yummy dip with only 70 calories! I served mine with carrots, celery, and pita chips...I use the term "served" loosely because what I actually did was dump it into a tupperware bowl and set it all out on the coffee table. I chose to make this (my first Pinterest recipe by the way) because it sounded easy. But with all the chopping (and a hungry baby needing my attention) it turned into a messy, hour long ordeal.

I think this idea is so cute, and I really want to do it. I even have the perfect orange onesie for it. Still, something tells me that mine wont come out looking quite so cute. In fact, I can see myself majorly screwing something like this up. None the less, next time I have a bleach pen handy I think I shall try it. Any suggestions for a cute design, or maybe a funny saying? "Peace, Love, and Poop" perhaps?

                               Amen

Being a financially challenged individual, and a minimalist at heart, I'm really diggin' this right now. So true.

And in honor of yesterday being Super Bowl Sunday, and of my lack of knowlege of (and interest in) sports...

Have a wonderful week everyone!

Smiling's My Favorite!

Every time we try to capture one of Baby Bo's "tricks" on camera, he gets so distracted by the actual camera itself that all he gives us is a blank stare. Sometimes we are lucky enough to keep him interested in something else just long enough to get a sweet video of him. Here are some examples of the a fore mentioned instances...
